Meet My Pagabo's Implementation Manager - Luke Horton

Date: 21/10/2022

From his love of football to a chat about how he creates a roadmap for My Pagabo, we sat down with My Pagabo Implementation Manager, Luke Horton, to find out how the start of his new chapter has gone.

So, Luke, please could you tell us a little bit about your job as an Implementation Manager?

Sure, as an Implementation Manager and key stakeholder of My Pagabo, my role is to understand internal stakeholders’ requirements which may relate to procurement processes, Key Performance Indicators and other automated processes and liaise with the My Pagabo product owner to fit these into the roadmap for development. I am also responsible for sharing the roadmap with the wider group and prioritising the functionality.

What did you do before joining the company? Any skills that you think will benefit you in your new role?

Previous to joining the company, I worked within a procurement software company that the Pagabo team actually use. I was a Business Development Manager, working with both public and private sector companies offering the system and developing it to meet requirements and keeping up with procurement legislations such as PCR 2015. My eye for detail and providing specifications to develop systems to meet various requirements allows me to transfer these skills to this role.

What were your initial thoughts of My Pagabo?

I already knew of Pagabo from my previous role within In-tend but unaware of the My Pagabo system and the functionality. After going through the system, I immediately thought of functionality that would only push this to the next level.

So, when you’re not at work, what do you get up to?

Free time outside of work is very limited due to having two young children, so when I am not running around after them, I’m usually cooking or cleaning up after them. April who is 2 years old loves to try and help with her little brother Ethan who is 7 months old but leaves a trail of destruction behind her like a hurricane has hit the house. On a weekend, we love to visit family who are spread across the North. I am big football fan and will watch it whenever I can, even if it is 3am on a Sunday morning recorded from night before with a bottle in my hand (feeding my son!).

What part of your role have you enjoyed so far? Any tasks / projects that stand out?

So far within the role, I have been understanding the different processes and functionality within the system. I am very excited about the functionality we are planning on adding within the system and sure it will benefit the Pagabo team to begin with and then potentially the wider company over time.

Good stuff! To finish off, what’s the next step in your job that you wish to achieve?

In the coming weeks, I will be assisting in producing the roadmap and sharing this with stakeholders that we have had discussions with around functionality that has been recommended. I am also looking forward to working with the development team to begin sharing release notes of the functionality that has been developed. This will help everyone internally know what has been developed and also what is upcoming.

Thank you for taking the time to talk to us, Luke. Good luck with your new role!
