We are delighted to welcome our new Marketing Assistant Rachel Jessop!
Rachel is a recent graduate of The University of Hull, where she earned a First-Class degree in Marketing. She is an animal lover and on first-name terms with the UK’s ‘greatest ever mascot’ so let’s get to know more before she gets snowed under with work.
You come into the industry with a good marketing pedigree...
During my studies, I tried to gain as much experience as possible. I joined the Charted Institute of Marketing, did a placement year at Ideal Boilers and continued to work part-time for a construction engineering company whilst I finished my final year at university.
The marketing campaign for Ideal’s Boiler Man, which the Daily Telegraph described as ‘The Greatest Ever Mascot’, must have been fun?
It was an exciting time getting to work with Boiler Man. It was a unique experience and I would never have imagined myself on the West Bromwich football pitch at half time stood next to a boiler with arms and legs!
Describe a typical day so far at Pagabo?
No day is the same! Pagabo is an interesting company to work for and they allow me to work on different projects and campaigns.
Marketing has become so important. What does it offer for businesses like Pagabo?
It is great to work for a company that values marketing so much. Marketing forms the tone, identity and personality of the company. It is incredibly important to get it right. It offers the business the ability to communicate clearly to potential and current contractors what Pagabo can offer.
Describe your homeworking environment?
I love being able to work from home, and I share a shed at the bottom of the garden to keep my work and home separate. It beats a busy commute into Hull.
If Pagabo gave you a £500 home working allowance what would you spend it on?
I would probably spend it on a comfy, heated massaging desk chair, with a cup holder of course!
Does using Zoom solve all life’s problems?
Using zoom helps to keep businesses going whilst keeping safe, during the virus as it helps to solve issues such as working from home.
We’ve heard you share your office with some pets.
Yes, my family’s dogs come to the office at home when I work, they are great company! My family have always been a lover of animals, so we have a fair few pets, including a tortoise, cat and many parrots. My dream one day is to have a field of alpacas!
Do you ever close your eyes and think you are on a desert island?
I sometimes think of being in Turkey in the sun by a pool, not being able to go on holiday this year due to COVID-19 has made me appreciate the how lucky I am to have seen the places I have been to.
How will you spend your first monthly salary?
I am hoping to put it towards a mortgage deposit. I am currently saving up to buy my first home with my partner.
Welcome aboard Rachel and best of luck with the new job.
