Jon Parker, Pagabo's new national framework manager, graduated from Northampton University and worked in finance before embarking on a career in construction and procurement.
As a promising young tennis player - Jon played for both his county and north of England - and had a love of travelling, before returning to Humberside to enjoy the rich rewards of family life and career opportunities the region had to offer.
Q: Why the move to Pagabo?
A: I wanted to move out of the off–site construction sector and into a contractor/client liaison position that would enable me to work more closely with clients and Tier 1 contractors. Pagabo was an extremely attractive move as it’s an up and coming company and I wanted to be involved in the company’s growth and part of its success
Q: What does your role as National Framework Manager entail?
A: I manage the construction frameworks, including small to medium and major works frameworks. We have recently launched the DBFO Car Park Framework which is new to the market and that also falls under my remit. The main role is providing consultative advice to clients on how to procure their building projects utilising our frameworks and offering extensive support to provide a fast procurement solution to clients
Q: What advice works best when dealing with clients?
A: The truth – providing a true and honest assessment, and providing all the information and facts so the clients can make an informed decision.
Q: You have experience in both private and public sector procurement so that must be an advantage?
A: I previously worked in the private and public sectors with construction backgrounds and that has enabled me to move, and meet the challenges with the minimum of disruption.
Q: How do you spend your down time?
A: I am married with two daughters, so I like to spend as much time with my family, and being as active as we can. We enjoy bike rides in the Dalby Forest and walks on the Beverley Westwood. My eldest daughter loves going on Go Ape in Dalby Forest and she keeps trying to drag me up there too!
Q: If it’s the little things in life that count, what are the little things in your life?
A: Putting my feet up with a pint of Guinness in front of the fire and watching Peaky Blinders.
Q: Favourite holiday destination?
A: Ibiza – with my family, it offers a fantastic holiday destination, sun, sun and sun, good food and a little tipple here and there!
Q: Which apps save you time?
A: Online banking.
Q: What book would you recommend to people?
A: I love reading sporting biographies. My most recent was Dan Carter's biography (All Black Legend) which was excellent and a real insight into professional rugby union at the highest level.
Q: If you weren't working for Pagabo...
A: I would be playing tennis or golf.
