We are just a year away from the government’s planned go live date for the Procurement Bill as part of the Procurement Reform, with the latest update being that it has received Royal Assent. As the UK has left the European Union, the Government wants to reform UK procurement rules which are currently based on EU procurement directives. We at Pagabo are working closely to follow the progress of the Procurement Reform and will help you to understand how it affects your projects in the coming months.
About a third of public sector spending goes towards public procurement. Every year, the public sector spends around £300bn on public procurement across goods, services and works. This reform will offer new and revised legislation as part of the Procurement Act 2023, which will come into force for all public sector organisations to adhere to. The key themes that the reform will be focussing on include Increased compliance via OCDS (Open Contracting Data Standard), bespoke and streamlined routes to market, reduced complexity and levelling up.
There will be a six-month period where the government will announce the changes before the go live date which is anticipated to be in October 2024, so we are aiming to lead the way in helping you understand and embed the changes in your organisation and build confidence in using the new processes.
Working closely with the public sector and improving their procurement outcomes is at the forefront of our values. We pride ourselves on being Pioneers of Ethical Procurement and as part of that, we have a six-point plan, which includes:
