Willmott Dixon Interiors were appointed to deliver a new suite within the state-of-the-art Innovation Studio at Arts University Bournemouth (AUB). This included the refurbishment of an existing administrative space to create a 6,500 sq ft Innovation Suite including a new reception area to the art incubation facility studio. The project was awarded through our Refit and Refurbishment procurement framework.
The completed project has delivered collaborative work and social space for local businesses, start-ups, CPD delivery, and post-graduate students working in the innovative creative, cultural, engineering, and manufacturing sectors. This also includes workshop rooms equipped with AV, body scanner, 3D printing, and textiles facilities as well as specialist digital and clean digital fabrication equipment.
Emma Hesbrook, Regional Relationship Manager at Pagabo, said: “I’m so pleased to see that Willmott Dixon Interiors have reached completion on AUB’s new Innovation Suite. The University required a quick, simple and compliant procurement route which we were able to offer in the form of a Direct Award through our specialist refurbishment framework. On behalf of the whole Pagabo team, I’d like to congratulate Willmott Dixon Interiors on reaching this milestone and to such a high standard.”
The full scope of works included the installation of new mechanical and electrical services and the refurbishment of existing seating areas as well as, new floor finishes, decoration, new furniture, and a timber feature wall.
Using 100% local labour, SME spend, the new suite was handed over on time and with no defects. The project was designed by Willmott Dixon’s own architect team, with Selway Joyce as project manager, quantity surveyor, and employer’s agent.
