We are starting the new year by announcing its certification as a B Corporation (or B Corp), achieving a score of 95.7 during certification, well above the benchmark of 80 required.
B Corp certification is awarded by B Lab, a non-profit organisation dedicated to transforming the global economy to benefit all people, communities, and the planet. Certified B Corps meet the highest standards of verified performance, accountability and transparency – all values that are central to the way Pagabo operates. The process addresses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers five key impact areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.
Managing procurement frameworks on behalf of the public sector, we have built a reputation over the past decade for prioritising partnerships that truly deliver above and beyond for the world, championing ethical practices, diversity, and sustainability. Our company initiatives have resulted in more than £6bn of social value created, and hundreds of thousands raised to support specific initiatives likes supporting the ongoing mental health crisis within the construction sector.
Jason Stapley, chief procurement officer at Pagabo, said: “Especially considering that we hold a prominent role within the construction and built environment sector, we have always had a very clear understanding of the bigger impacts of our actions.
“That’s exactly why we have always placed a huge focus on doing business in a way that benefits more than ourselves, and achieving B Corp certification is, of course, a key milestone on that journey. It verifies that we have met the highest standards of social and environmental performance, sitting among businesses that are proving to the world that it’s possible to be commercially successful while benefitting people, communities and the planet.
“Achieving a score so high above the benchmark reflects how deep-rooted our values are at Pagabo, pushing for a truly social value-led approach to the way we do business – which equates to more than £6bn in the past decade. This all being said, it isn’t the final destination, and we continue to keep our eyes to the future. From the frameworks we develop with contracting authorities and the projects procured through them, through to how we continue to grow and operate for our own people, we will continue to innovate and strive to do all we can to benefit people, communities and the planet.”
We are now part of a community of 8,000 businesses globally that have certified as B Corps, along with the other business units under the Pagabo Group – Sypro, Loop, and Risk Manager. The B Corp community in the UK represents a broad cross-sector of industries and sizes, with more than 2,000 companies including household names like The Guardian, innocent, and Patagonia.
The B Corp certification marks the latest in a number of accreditations that back Pagabo’s way of working, including Cyber Essentials Plus certification, along with being a Living Wage Employer, an NHS Accredited Framework Host.
