Working with The Government Property Agency (The GPA), Overbury completed a full demolition of the existing offices, meeting rooms, kitchens, and libraries, at South Colonnade in Canary Wharf.
The GPA was refurbishing the level for the incoming government tenant. The new space includes new meeting rooms, collaboration areas, server rooms, communication rooms, a media suite and refreshment hubs.
Overbury was able to add value through quality, setting up a “value hub” showcasing samples of all approved finishes giving a hands-on feel of what the project would be like from the start. As the project progressed a benchmark room was created, and using a temporary power supply, all the light finishings were displayed in their intended locations, giving the team a clear vision of the final result and helping to identify any necessary adjustments or improvements.
Overbury engaged with incoming government tenant throughout the project. This enabled them to make changes to it’s specifications such as additional power, data, and floor layout before the project had been completed. Through early engagement with subcontractors to organise 24-hour works and careful programme management the project was completed on time. Building and Facility Managers were liaised with daily to avoid disruption to the other occupied floors in the live government building.
Several social value initiatives took place including a volunteering day at Mudchute Farm, mental health signage in multiple languages throughout the site, engagement with the Construction Youth Trust, subcontractor CEQs to ensure we have accurate feedback on the running of the project and foundationers day where prospective foundation programme candidates came to learn about the project teams careers and take part in a project tour.
