The transformation vision for Andersonstown was to provide a new multi-function leisure centre focusing on family-oriented water facilities. The primary attraction, the family wet play centre is intended to appeal to local users, the wider Belfast community and its surrounding areas. The centre has extensive flume and water ride provision including ‘The Abyss’ where riders enter a capsule and prepare to be plunged with the a disappearing floor below their feet. ‘The Vortex’, a body slide with riders racing to the bottom down twists and turns at high speeds and ‘The Torrent’ where singles or pairs riders undertake slalom drops, twists and turns on inflatable rings at extreme speeds. The facility is complimented on the wet side with a 6 lane 25m pool with 50 spectator’s seats and a learner pool. The dry facilities will consist of a 140-station fitness suite, 2 multipurpose studios and a dedicated spin studio.
